"Hate burns up more energy than anything else, more than hard work, illness
or justifiable worry. So when hatred is entering our hearts, let's just put
it out, make room for pleasant thoughts instead, save our precious God-given
energy for something worthy of it." -- Dale Carnegie
Raise your hand if you're thinking, "Yeah, easier said than done!" Many of us are confronted almost daily by people who seemingly make it their life's
mission to make us or others feel bad. Negativity is everywhere.
We all know, however, that as leaders in our society it is among our most important responsibilities-our duty-to build other people. That duty is perhaps
even more important with regard to those who consistently demonstrate
unhappy, negative behavior. We can have a positive impact on these people by simply taking Dale Carnegie's advice and strive to find the strengths in others.
To do this we must first want to see the good in people. That may
require that we first look past the obvious negative characteristics of that person, identify the traits that are admirable, and then be ready to sincerely
and skillfully express it to them.
I challenge you to purposefully help others see their own strengths throughout this week. If you do, you may be able to turn a sour grape into sweet nectar.
Best regards,
Robert Short
This is really inspiring and I must admit that sometimes I am caught on this situation as well that it is easier to get mad than see how beautiful things are.
